Will my registration for the Annual Convention that was originally scheduled to be held in Hawaii automatically transfer to the Las Vegas Annual Convention?

Yes, if you have already registered for Hawaii and wish to attend Convention in Las Vegas, your registration will remain in place. If you wish to cancel, please email BWconferences@bestwestern.com.

Will my property still be pre-billed the convention registration fee?

Yes, in accordance with Best Western Rules & Regulations 500.50 every member property is automatically billed a non-refundable $795 registration fee, whether an attendee attends the Convention or not.

Do I need to contact the Hilton Hawaiian Village to cancel my hotel reservation?

Yes, you will need to contact the Hilton Hawaiian Village to cancel your hotel room reservations.

Do I need to make a new hotel reservation at the MGM Grand?

The housing link will be provided once your registration has been completed.

What happens to my airline reservations?

Please contact your airline to determine their policies about changing or cancelling flights. You should note for your airline that because of the surge of the COVID-19 pandemic in Hawaii, Mayor Blangiardi, for the City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii announced COVID-19 prohibitions that required the event to be cancelled in accordance with “force majeure.”

Will Best Western reimburse me for any airline change fees?

No, Best Western will not reimburse airline fees; however, you should proactively contact your airline and advise them of the government restriction noted above and ask that they waive change fees

What if I purchased tickets for a social event associated with the Convention?

If you still wish to attend the social event, your ticket purchase will remain in place. If you plan on cancelling and have social event tickets, those will be cancelled as well and refunded.

What if I registered for an optional workshop?

If you still wish to attend the workshop, the registration will remain in place.

Will the registration/hotel reservation deadline dates change?

The registration and housing deadlines for the MGM Grand will be Monday, September 20.

How does the registration pre-bill work?

In accordance with Best Western Rules & Regulations 500.50 every property in the system is automatically billed a non-refundable $795 registration fee, the month prior to Convention. However, if you are going to attend the convention you still need to complete the registration online on or before Monday, Sept. 20 or you will be assessed the $100 late registrant fee. When completing this online registration, you will not be billed again. If you register more than one person, those additional registrants will be billed on your statement following Convention at the applicable registration fee.

What are the attendance requirements for Best Western hotels?

General Manager Attendance Requirement
500.58 Each Best Western Property is required to assign and maintain a full time General Manager, empowered, responsible, and accountable for the daily operations of the Property. The General Manager shall attend either the Annual Convention or a District Townhall each year.

Property Meeting Attendance
500.11 A Member or designated operating manager or active management employee of each Best Western Property shall attend either the Annual Convention or a District Townhall each year.
Accordingly, based on Rule 500.11, only one of the individuals designated must attend Convention or a District Townhall. These individuals could be the owner, voting member or any other active member of the property’s management team.

Please note that photo identification is required to obtain all Convention badges/credentials from the Convention registration desk.

Attendees are NOT permitted to pick up badges for other Convention attendees.

How can I avoid paying an additional $100 for my registration?

By registering ONLINE on or before the Monday, Sept. 20 cut-off date, you will avoid on-site late fees.

After Monday, Sept. 20, a $100 late fee is incurred in addition to the pre-billed ($795) registration fee for each attendee from a property.

Fees increase to $895 for any additional attendees from the same property that registers onsite.

No one from my property will be attending the Convention, why is my property being billed?

In accordance with Best Western Rules & Regulations 500.50 every property in the system is automatically billed a non-refundable $795 registration fee, whether an attendee registers for the conference or not.

When should I plan to arrive in Las Vegas, Nevada?

The official start of the Convention is Tuesday, October 5 with education sessions and the Trade Show opening at 10 a.m.

The Convention will officially conclude on Thursday, October 7 with the evening event.

There will be additional optional workshops on Monday, October 4, the morning of Tuesday, October 5, and on Friday, October 8 and Saturday, Oct. 9.

Convention attendees should reference the agenda to determine the best arrival and departure dates.

How do I earn General Manager Continuing Education Credits at Convention?

General Managers will earn ONE General Manager Continuing Education (GM CE) point for attending the Best Western Annual Convention.

Your BWI University username/Memberweb ID must be provided at the time of registration to credit your account.

You must check in at the Best Western Convention registration desk and provide photo identification in order to receive your badge. Once you have checked in onsite, record of your attendance will be provided to the Best Western Education & Training Department.

Full day workshops held before or after Convention, may also be eligible for GM CE points. Classes that are worth CE points are noted in program descriptions on the convention website and mobile app.

If I register for an optional workshop on BWIUniversity.com, am I also registering for the Convention?

No. If you register for an optional program on bwiuniversity.com you have only registered yourself for that program. You must still complete your registration on this website if you'll be attending the entire Convention.

By registering online, am I also reserving a hotel room?

No. By registering for Convention you are not reserving a hotel room. You must complete the registration process before reserving a room.

How can I cancel my registration and will I receive a refund?

There are two ways for you to cancel your registration.
  • You can refer to your Convention registration email, where you will find a personalized link to your registration details. By clicking on that link you will be given the option to review/edit/cancel your registration.
  • You can also cancel your registration by emailing the bwconferences desk at bwconferences@bestwestern.com. Please include the registrant name, property name, and property number of the registrant cancelling.

In accordance with Best Western Rules & Regulations 500.50 every property in the system is automatically billed a non-refundable $795 registration fee in September. If you are the only person attending from your property and you cancel, your registration fee will not be refunded.

Additional registrations will be refunded only if the cancellation is received prior to Monday, Sept. 20. No-shows will also be billed.

What is the dress code for Convention?

Attire for business sessions and breakouts is business casual. The dress code for the Welcome Reception on Tuesday night is casual, and the Thursday night event is business casual.

Which airport is closest to the MGM Grand?

McCarren International Airport (LAS) is 4 miles from the host hotel.

Is transportation provided to/from the airport to the host hotel?

No, but ground transportation from the area airports is available via taxis, Uber/Lyft, pre-arranged shuttles, limousines, and vans. Taxi and Rideshare services are available. You may contact the MGM Grand Concierge to assist with booking shuttle or Limousine transportation. They can be reached at 877.660.0660.
